Put it in the 'areas' folder, m06n is the great desert mod.

Then you're messing up somewhere, I just DLed one of my areas and extracted the files to the 'areas' folder which is write-protected on my pc as well and nothing went wrong.

Only mXXd/mXXn folders go in the 'areas' folder.
