And no, loaders cannot run discs. The point of loaders is to run backups from HDDs. You use a disk in Gecko and Riivo for instance, loaders need ISOs on a USB.
the loaders can't run the disk, but a loader can rip the iso from a disc and save it to a flash drive or HDD

Re: USB loader GX
see i thought that the loader could rip the iso to the Usb flash drive, i wasnt trying to run the disk from the loader, am i maybe pressing the wrong button or should the loader setting be changed?
and my wiis disc drive works fine, but i wanted a backup iso of monster hunter and i was going to use the discs from friends to get games i dont hav instead of going P2P sharing, just for safety, lol so i really want to get this working

Re: USB loader GX
This is obvious, trying to figure out why Lyra cannot do this. Obviously her HDD isn't the issue, as the loader would've made this very clear as soon as you ran the app.MHunterHoss wrote:the loaders can't run the disk, but a loader can rip the iso from a disc and save it to a flash drive or HDD
What loader are you using lyra? I assume USBloaderGX.
EDIT:
There's not really a wrong button to push, nor any settings that would effect your ability to rip an ISO. Pretty much all you need to rip an ISO is a functioning loader, disk, disk driver and HDD with adequate space. But depending on your loader there could be some underlying issues.Lyra wrote:see i thought that the loader could rip the iso to the Usb flash drive, i wasnt trying to run the disk from the loader, am i maybe pressing the wrong button or should the loader setting be changed?

But, it seems that her drive can't rip it because it's not functioning.

This is the most likely cause, others off the top of my head being an outdated GX rev or a faulty IOS setup.AsteriskRocks wrote:But, it seems that her drive can't rip it because it's not functioning.

If only I knew what any of that meant lmao From the very
I would try using a different loader to make sure there isn't anything wrong with your Wii.

I've heard of it going very slow but the few times I tried to rip an ISO with GX I quit before I could find out if it would somehow get faster. Honestly I think it may be easier just to download an ISO online.

Re: USB loader GX
Ok guys, here's my first question: my laser died, so while I can get it replaced, I'm using an USB loader. I made my custom ISO, got the gct file, and everything is working perfectly so far, but here's the thing, is there a way I can add the weapon and armor textures other than trucha-ing them in? Like, Gecko codes or something? Is not really a life or death situation, but it'd be nice to have these textures, to help me get used to the new weapons, since my Deviljho greatsword has fire element now, and all the new weapons look pretty much the same.

Re: USB loader GX
Riivo>Trucha>Scrubber. Riivo is the easiest way to patch a game since you don't have to add an updated ISO to your HDD every time. Obviously not an option for you so you have to use Trucha and Scrubber. There may be other ways but these are the 2 best and most widely used.NarbeVoguel wrote:Ok guys, here's my first question: my laser died, so while I can get it replaced, I'm using an USB loader. Now, Trucha is best for patching and Scrubber is best for extracting but you won't be able to patch every weapon in just Trucha so you need Scrubber as well. So if you want all the custom texture I would suggest opening your ISO in Trucha first and patching all textures you can in there and Trucha sign it. Then open it in Scrubber, remember to set the scrub type to 'Trucha' that is very important, and patch the rest. Open it in Trucha once more to Trucha sign again and you're good.
But be aware, some weapons and armor will make you freeze if equipped with modded textures. This is the only real downfall of self-patching and why Riivo is such a good app.

Re: USB loader GX
Thanks. I did it, and now my new character can use tons of Aethers trolololol.
On a serious note, I'm currently writing down the weapons that give me a freeze (since I don't really care much about the armor textures, so didn't add them), so I don't add them on a second scrub. I have a lot work ahead of me, but it will be worth it, lol.
Another quick question: how many G rank quests are there? I think I only have 4, and I don't know how many I'm supposed to have.

All of them are G Rank because they become harder in G Mode.

hey if it helps look in hackmii, there are homebrew apps, and one of them lets you control the laser in the wii, maybe that might be able to fix it, give it a try
