Signs of a brick
Semi or Partial Brick
A partial brick occurs when a user uploads a System Menu update from a region different than his own. Updates designed for other regions will decrease the functionality of the Wii main menu. The game will start up but the Wii system menu will not.
Banner Brick
A banner brick happens when a user installs a channel that contains a banner with an invalid image size. It's the likely cause of the brick if the screen freezes at the "Health and Safety" screen. The message "System Files are Corrupted" may appear.
Full Brick
This term describes the complete malfunction of the Wii system menu. At start-up, the user will only see an Opera error message instead of the Wii's typical warning screen. A full brick could also leave the screen black even though the Wii is turned on.
Low Level Brick
A low level brick is a type of malfunction to the booting, or start-up process. If the process is corrupted, the user will only see a black screen similar to the symptoms experienced with a full brick.
Error 003 Brick
An error 003 brick occurs when system menu of version 4.2 or higher is installed onto a Korean Wii console without the proper Korean region code. The error message "Error 003" will show on start up. The main menu of the Wii console will not be operable but the game should start.
Since your issue doesn't match any of these descriptions, it seems you haven't bricked.
Wii Console Won't Turn On, and Has No Power Light
Situation:
The Wii console won't power on, and the Power LED is unlit
The console powers on, but shuts off after a few seconds/minutes
Attaching an accessory to the console turns the power off
Information:
This issue can be caused by an accessory or power surge tripping the circuit breaker on the AC Adapter.
What To Do:
Check any accessories attached directly to the console to make sure that it is licensed and undamaged. Unlicensed or damaged accessories shouldn't be used with the console.
Try using a different wall outlet, or plug a different device into the outlet to make sure the outlet is providing power.
Perform an AC Adapter Reset. (How To)
Situation Not Resolved:
If the system still won't power on, the system and AC adapter will need to be repaired.

Re: Wii Problems
My first Wii fell victim to a power surge. I remember being able to turn it on if I fiddled with it long enough, but I can't remember if the LED was lit or not.
As odd as it may sound, I remember not being able to turn it off (aside from unplugging it).

Re: Wii Problems
Mine was hit by a surge the other day. It ended up working after unplugging it and plugging it in for a while.
